Exciting changes are coming to Alexandria! Southern Site Services is proud to partner with the City of Alexandria on a major, multi-million dollar park improvement initiative. Work is officially underway at six different parks across the city, all with a simple, unified goal: creating safer, more functional, and more vibrant spaces for local families and visitors to enjoy.

This sweeping municipal project will breathe new life into our local recreational areas through a variety of high-impact upgrades, including:

• Upgraded Playground Equipment for kids of all ages

• Improved Walking Trails & Sports Courts to promote community health and fitness

• New Gathering Spaces & Enhanced Landscaping for family gatherings and community events

Progress Update: First Playground Renovation Nears Completion!

We are thrilled to report that our crews are already putting the finishing touches on the very first playground renovation of the six-park initiative. If you’ve passed by the site recently, you might have noticed a striking blue ground cover. That is our poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing—a state-of-the-art, highly durable material engineered specifically for modern play environments.

Unlike traditional wood chips or gravel, this specialized rubber surfacing delivers three major benefits to the community:

• Maximum Fall Protection: It creates a cushioned, impact-absorbing barrier that significantly reduces the risk of playground injuries.

• True Inclusivity: The smooth, seamless surface dramatically improves accessibility, allowing wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility devices to navigate the play area effortlessly.
